Space Maintainers
Another application that prevents premature loss of baby teeth are the space maintainers.
When and how is it applied?
Space maintainers, which are prepared to the mouth of the children, are removable appliances. It is small and comfortable to use and the children will adapt to it within a few days. Space maintainers that fill the socket of the extracted tooth ensure that the remaining baby teeth remain in place until the permanent tooth is completely replaced. They come in two types: removable and fixed.
Space maintainers should not be moved by finger or tongue once fitted in. While the removable space maintainers can be removed, the fixed space maintainers must be removed by the dentist.
It prevents any future orthodontic problems by keeping the teeth in the normal position. No problems are encountered after application of space maintainers.
