SPLIT OSTEOTOMY
Split Osteotomy (Jaw Enlargement Surgery) is used for malocclusion problems experienced due to several reasons.
Split Osteotomy, also known as method to advance the mandible, is used to correct mandibular protrusion or retrognathia. It is the process of thickening the fine bone tissue with the help of micro saws or piezosurgery and making the bone suitable for the implant. In dental implant treatment, sharp or narrow alveolar crests are enlarged in order for implant treatment is successfully applied in these areas.
It is applied when the jaw bone does not allow implant application. The jawbone is enlarged laterally to get a thicker jawbone horizontally, after which the implant is inserted.
What are the Possible Problems During / After the Application?
Possible complications; hemorrhage, nerve damage, damage to adjacent teeth, Mandibular fractures and Maxillary sinus perforation, but they are rarely seen when the surgery is performed by a team of specialists in a clinical environment.
